What counts as an action?
An action is any event you record to Empress—agent decisions, tool calls, API requests, or any xAPI statement. You control what gets recorded, so you only pay for what matters.
How does Empress support compliance work?
Every statement lands in an immutable audit ledger, and you can export your entire ledger as cursor-paged NDJSON to hand to auditors. Empress does not hold certifications such as SOC 2 today; the data model is designed to make evidence collection for frameworks like GDPR and the EU AI Act straightforward.
Can I self-host Empress?
Not today. Empress is a hosted platform. Self-hosting is on the roadmap for Enterprise; full data sovereignty is available now via complete ledger export.
What happens if I exceed my action limit?
We'll notify you before you hit your limit. You can upgrade anytime, or we can add overage at $0.001 per additional action. We never stop recording without warning.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Platform and Operations plans include a 14-day free trial with full access. No credit card required to start.
How is Empress different from Langfuse or DataDog?
Langfuse is a developer debugging tool for LLM prompts. DataDog is infrastructure monitoring. Empress is an AI operations platform built on xAPI standard—designed for compliance, operations teams, and business-level decision intelligence, not just technical metrics.
